Assignment #3: Introduction to Cisco Packet Tracer
Instructions: Cisco Packet Tracer (PT) is a network mapping program that allows us to build virtual networks. We use PacketTracer to build, monitor and upgrade possible networks, and to test our knowledge of Cisco equipment. In this lab, we will register for an Introduction to Packet Tracer course, and use the basic features of the program to build and test basic networks.
This assignment is worth 20 points.
- Accessing Ciscos Networking Academy
- Open a web browser and navigate to https://www.netacad.com/.
- Click Login In in the top right-hand corner and select Redeem Seat Token from the Login page.
- Choose I am new to Networking Academy to create a Cisco NetAcad account.
- Or choose I currently have a Networking Academy Login if you have taken Cisco classes previously.
- Login to your NetAcad account, or provide your name and e-mail address to create a new account.
- Refer to the Announcement on BlackBoard for your Introduction to Packet Tracer seat token.
- Once you have confirmed your account, the Introduction to Packet Tracer course should appear on your NetAcad homepage. Take a screenshot of the course homepage and paste it below.
- Downloading Cisco Packet Tracer. In this section, we will download the Cisco Packet Tracer program to your PC. If you do not wish to download this program, you can use the edition available in the Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI).
- Log In to your Cisco Networking Academy account (you may already be logged in from Section A).
- Scroll down to the Resources section of the MyNetAcad page and click on Packet Tracer.
- Download Packet Tracer Version 7.2.1.
- Version exist for Windows and Linux, and for 32-bit and 64-bit operating systems. Choose 32-bit if you are not sure about your operating systems architecture.
Once downloaded, open the program and Log In using your Cisco NetAcad account. Take a screenshot of the opened program and paste it below.
