Defining the Problem Description: Your Portfolio Project will be about Design Thinking. It will consist of 2 parts and will culminate in a PowerPoint presentation that you will present to the class.

Remember: you will use the same idea throughout the entirety of the portfolio project.

Defining the Problem 1. Look back on your Everyday Problem Journal from Project 2 and chose one of your entries.

Keep in mind that you will be using this choice for the entirety of your portfolio project (Parts 1, 2 and Presentation). So, choose wisely

Difficulty scooping frozen ice cream: This problem can be solved by an ice cream scoop with an internal heating element. The heating element would warm up the ice cream scoop, making it easier to scoop the ice cream without it sticking to the scoop.

Tangled earbuds: This problem can be solved by earbuds with a built-in cable management system. The cable management system would keep the earbuds organized and prevent them from getting tangled.

Broken zippers: This problem can be solved by zippers with a lifetime warranty. The lifetime warranty would ensure that the zippers will never break, even with heavy use.

Spilled coffee cups: This problem can be solved by coffee cups with a spill-proof lid. The spill-proof lid would prevent the coffee from spilling out of the cup, even if the cup is tipped over.

2.Using the Frame Your Design Challenge Worksheet in Moodle, define and articulate the problem you are trying to solve. Fill out the worksheet and post your answers to it on a page in Mahara as your submission. Keep in mind what weve learned about creating good problem statements.

Remember that the design thinking process is iterative, meaning that you will have a chance to tweak and change your problem statement as needed.
