Demystifying Physics Misconceptions For this project, you will be assigned a common physics misconception to explore. There are many things we all observe in the world, and often we try to understand the observations. Unfortunately, some of our explanations are misconceptions. You will prepare a presentation that explains, from a scientific perspective, why itis a misconception, and what the correct explanation is. Your report should be in the form of a power point presentation. The report must be recorded and uploaded to Canvas. Your recording must include your slides as you present them. A separate audio file will not count. You will be assigned both a topic and a presentation date. A draft of your presentation must be emailed to me (prallen137@gmail.com) at least one week before your due date. | will provide comments and suggestions to help you improve your presentation. | am also available during my regular office hours to discuss your topic with you, to help you get a better understanding of the topic, and to suggest resources you may find helpful. Your power point should include the following: 1. Your name 2. A statement of the misconception and why people might have this misconception 3. What are the scientific principles that apply to the situation? Show how the scientific principles can be used to show that the misconception is incorrect. 4. References. You must include at least three reliable references. Note that not all web pages are considered reliable, including Wikipedia. For many of the topics you may find that our text book is a good source of information. Presentations should be about 5 minutes long. Remember that when | assign your grade | will be reviewing the power point itself, not just how you presented it in your recording.
