Heres how weve been handling unfilled orders. We search our unfilled orders file once a week. If the order was filled this week, we delete the record. If we havent written to the customer in four weeks, we send them this cute card, saying, Not ready yet. (Its a notification that their item is still on backorder.)

If the backorder date changed to greater than forty-five days from now, we send out a notice. But, if the merchandise is seasonal (like Halloween treat bags or Valentines Day cake moulds) and the backorder date is thirty days or more, we send out a notice. If the merchandise is no longer available, we send a notice and delete the record. Please note that the notice card we send for each occasion is a different one.
