New Jersey offers two primary pathways for individuals seeking initial teacher certification. First is Certificate of Eligibility with Advanced Standing (CEAS) the traditional route and Certificate of Eligibility (CE)the alternate route. I will be pursuing a CEAS certificate which is the traditional route which New Jersey requires a BA degree and completion of a state-approved teacher preparation program. New Jersey teachers are required to pass Praxis exams also a completion of a physiology and hygiene requirement . Upon securing employment and receiving provisional certificate teacher are required to participation in the Provisional Teacher Process (PTP), the completion of formal instruction requirements as stipulated by the educator preparation program
