Question:
Describe the safe working practices and procedures to be followed whilst preparing and tidying up their work areaA clean and tidy workspace is an essential part of workingsafely. Procedures such as making sure the chuck on the lathe is secure with the chuck key not in the chuck; also machines and switches should be turned off when not in use(as misusing electricals is a common cause of injury and fires). To make sure that workers are working safely, there are drawings situated in the draws next to the lathe area in the workshop or ask staff for drawings. Due to the nature of machines there will be oil or other lubricant substances that would occur in a working environment; sometimes oil could leak or be spilt and can cover the floor, slippery floors potentially cause harm as workers can slip over and get hurt; to prevent this – it is importantthat workers immediately spot any slippery surfaces, clean them and if needed be place a bright caution slippery surface sign.
