1. DESCRIBE: Try to influence someone to do something. This could be anything from influencing a team member to follow your suggestion to influencing a child to eat their vegetables. Describe what took place. Were you able to persuade the person?
2. CONNECT: Make a connection between concept and practice by answering the following questions: Which source of power did you use? Why? Which influence tactic did you use? Why? Which direction of influence was this? Thinking about what took place, do you feel a different power and/or influence tactic may have worked better? Make sure to elaborate on your responses.
3. APPLY: Discuss how managers can use bases of power and influence tactics to influence employees in the workplace.
