Describe with the aids of diagrams the difference between principle of work and energy and principle of impulse and momentum in kinetic analysis of a particle in plane motion. In the mechanism shown in the Figure Q5(b), the 10-kg slider A on the inclined shaft is attached to two springs having stiffness constants of k = 200 N/m and k2 = 400 N/m, respectively. Both springs are initially unstretched when the slider is released from rest to move down the inclined shaft. Knowing that the angle 0 = 30, find the displacement of the slider A until it comes to a stop for these two following cases: (i) (ii) frictionless inclined shaft, and the coefficient of kinetic friction between slider and inclined shaft, x = 0.3.
