Description As we work on understanding decision making, and interpersonal and group behavior, let us focus this week's discussion on the Health Care System. The Health Care System (HCS) in America: Historical overview of the conflicts in the health care system. What is the nature of the conflict within the health care system? Who controls health care: Hospitals, Insurance Companies, Law Enforcement Agency (treatment vs. the prison system), the Political Process, the President, Congress, Drug Companies, the Patient or Doctors? Who should define the meaning of health care? Is it true that whoever defines or controls meaning, controls resources? Examine issues in malpractice insurance. Take any aspect of the questions raised and discuss the group/team decision making (the rational or behavioral approach, or the nature of the conflict) that may be an issue within the health care system. The conflict may not necessarily be team-related in terms of who controls the system, but this is an opportunity to explore how managing decision making and interpersonal processes affect organizations
