Read Acts $2$:$41.$

In his sermon recorded in Acts $2,$ Peter calls for the men of Judea to listen to the words spoken by the prophet Joel and the patriarch David as a testament of Jesus and the gospel of salvation. Peter calls for them to acknowledge their part in the crucifixion of Christ. They were cut to the heart and approximately $3,000$ were added to the church.
