There are 3 ways that Business Analysts typically use mind maps:

  1. Planning an event or activity (e.g. meeting, workshop, focus group, etc.)
  2. Organizing content (e.g. document, deliverable, website, etc.)
  3. Breaking down a concept (i.e. structurally organizing a knowledge domain)

For this assignment, you are asked to do a mind map for any topic of your choosing, using one of the 3 types above.

CLO2. Extract customer needs and objectives from elicitation activities.

Directions

There are 2 parts to this assignment.

Part 1: Describe and scope your map

Explain the scope of the topic or knowledge domain you have chosen to map. Consider what's included and what's not included in your mind map scope (i.e. put a boundary around your topic). Explain your thought process enough that your map will make sense to someone else looking at it for the first time.

Part 2: Mind map

Using any software tool, do a mind map that fully explores the topic or knowledge domain of your choosing. Your map must demonstrate a good grasp of logic and hierarchy, and it must also be attractive and easy to read.

TIP: When scoping your topic. try to right-size it so that your map contains around 30 topics and sub-topics altogether.
