Descriptive statistics are used in quantitative research to compile, summarize, categorize, and organize data so that they can be more easily digested and understood (Sanchez, 2023). In my proposed research study, I will be studying two groups of employees and their well-being and engagement scores on a survey. Some descriptive statistics that will be meaningful are the mean and the range. The mean is one way to summarize raw scores in a way that is meaningful and gives a single value for each set (Gravetter & Wallnau, 2016). Since I will be predicting job role based on scores in two different groups, the mean can help describe the scores of each group overall. The range can similarly be used to describe how similar or dissimilar the scores are across each group, which can help describe how well the scores represent the population (Gravetter & Wallnau).
