Question: Design a blast for the commodity provided in Table 1 using the Datablast software. The ( Rock ) Geotechnical Engineering department and the Mine Planning

Design a blast for the commodity provided in Table 1 using the Datablast software. The (Rock) Geotechnical Engineering department and the Mine Planning department have all agreed on a suitable bench height of 10m and it has also been determined from historical blasts that sub-drilling is required for all blasts. For the load and haul equipment and the crusher to perform optimally, the required Run-Of-Mine top size (80% passing) must be achieved. Table 1: Commodity and optimal fragmentation size distribution required.GROUPSCOMMODITYOPTIMAL FRAGMENTATON SIZE (80% PASSNG)(mm)1,13 and 20Gold3502,14 and 21Manganese2203,15 and 22Chrome3004,16 and 23Platinum3055,17 and 24Iron Ore1806,18 and 25Copper5507,19 and 26Zinc5008, and 27Diamond1509 and 28Coal40010 and 29Cobalt25011 and 30Diamond18012 and 31Chrome280 The mine runs on a two shifts cycle per day, the morning and night shift. Charging and blasting is restricted to the day shift only. The complement for the drilling and charging crew are as follows: Drilling crew: One Shift supervisor with a blasting certificate. One Drilling machine operator (must be a competent operator with a valid certificate) and two assistants. One competent person from the Quality Control/Quality Assurance (QA/QC) department.Charging and blasting crew: One Shift supervisor with a blasting certificate. One Mobile Processing Unit (MPU) truck and one assistant. One blaster with a blasting certificate and 3 assistants. One stemming truck operator. As the newly appointed Drill and Blast Engineer you are required to: 1. Design a blast for the mine in Datablast using the files provided.2. Configure your database deciding on the explosives, initiating devices, equipment and all resources required for the drilling and blasting process based on the geological conditions and information provided.3. Label your block and design lines appropriately i.e. Mine Topography, Blast Block, Drill Pattern and etc.4. Determine if whether the fragmentation size distribution is optimal by analysing the fragmentation curves.5. Determine the Peak Particle Velocity (PPV) resulting from your design at a house located 600m away from the blast in the Y-direction, a graveyard located 800m from the blast in the X-direction and a Powerline located 200m. Further you are required to prepare a POSTER (minimum A3 size) that briefly discusses your results. The poster should have the following sections: 1. Abstract2. Introduction3. Methodology4. Results and Analysis5. References Note: The equipment, explosives, rock properties and all data used must be added as an attached to the poster in tabular form.
