Question: Design a continuous gravity decanter to separate three phases with the following physicochemical properties. a . Fluid A , Density = 1 1 0 0

Design a continuous gravity decanter to separate three phases with the following physicochemical properties.
a. Fluid A, Density =1100kgm3
b. Fluid B, Density =1523kgm3
c. Fluid C, Density =1325kgm3
Residence time in the continuous gravity decanter can be maintained up to 50 minutes. Inlet flow consists of a mixture of Fluids A, B and C with total flow rate of 2.6m3h. Volume % of A:B:C=75:15:10 in the feed. It can be assumed that the height of fluid layers in the continuous gravity decanter is in proportion to the volume %.
Note: We can consider two possibilities i) Separation of B along with mixture of A and C followed by separation of A and C in two separate continuous gravity decanter.
ii) Separation of A, B and C together in a single continuous gravity decanter.
Time required for separation of mixture of liquids in decanter is t
t=100A-B
where t= separation time, h
A,B= densities of liquids A and B,kgm3
= viscosity of the continuous phase, cP
