Use a SPST switch for the MODE input, a SPST switch for the RESET input, and a 1Hz clock signal for the system clock.

The pattern when the MODE switch is 0 Then Then Then Back to the first state at the top of the pattern. The pattern when the MoDE switch is 1 Then Then Then Then Then Back to the first state at the top of the pattern. once a pattern starts, you can run the pattern through to completion before changng the MoDE switch
