Figure $1$ above shows a pulley drive system used for the smooth operation of a long belt drive which transports ore material from an underground mine to the surface for further processing.

Analyse the system and answer the following questions:

$(1)$ An axial thrust of $520$ N is applied on the disc clutch plates. For a clutch with two discs, and operating under uniform pressure, determine the friction torque required to operate the clutch, given that $=0\mathrm{.}25,r_1=32mm,r_2=16mm.$
