Designing a Business Model Using Properties of Complex Systems (with a Marketing Twist) Scenario: Imagine CityU has hired you as a strategy consultant to develop a new business model for the institution (disregard CityU's existing model and marketing campaign), which you could also utilize as a marketing component and strategy. To complete this project, follow the 4-step process for designing business models addressed in Week 3 : Part 1 1. Identify the desired emergent behavior: Obviously, in this case, the desired emergent behavior that you and CityU would want to produce is, "attracting new students" or "increasing the number of new students." 2. Identify the most integral part: You need to conduct research and determine what part can play "the most significant" role in producing the above behavior. 3. Identify 3-5 components that can contribute to the most critical part determined in the previous step. 4. Arrange all the parts: Figure out a proper structure/configuration for the parts identified in steps 2 and 3 so that through their interactions and connections you could facilitate the emergence of the behavior mentioned in step 1. To complete each of the above steps, you need to justify your choices using relevant insights from lecture materials and research. Your analysis and justification must be implemented professionally, similar to how an actual strategy consultant would prepare a document, analysis, and/or report of this nature. Next, based on the output that you offer for each of the 4 steps, you should prepare a visual draft for a new billboard that CityU has asked you to design (concept-wise) to market the institution. To complete this task, you can strategically incorporate your outputs for steps 2 to 4 into your design. Hint: In the context of marketing and advertising, the part that you determine in step 2 will play a vital role; it will be the most critical component (i.e., centerpiece/cornerstone) of the billboard, answering people's question of "Why I should go to CityU?" To summarize, your submission, which will be a single, 3-5 page MS Word document (APA) and must include two major sections (see the instructions in the syllabus for more details): 1. Part 1: The 4-step process along with a "technical" justification and analysis for each step. 2. Part 2: A figure that illustrates your proposed design for CityU's new billboard. You can design the billboard in any program that you are comfortable with (e.g., PowerPoint, Paint, Photoshop, etc.); once you are done with your design, take a screenshot of it, and insert it below Part 1 in the same document
