Determine the sample of this study :Power analysis was used to calculate the sample size for the study. This showed that the sample size would need to be 32 for each group assuming 5% type 1 error and 80% power, and we therefore included 34 patients in each group taking into account possible losses, for a total of 68 patients with COPD. Between June 22, 2015, and November 15, 2015, 160 patients with COPD presented to the chest diseases outpatient clinic because of COPD. A total of 94 patients who met the study inclusion criteria were interviewed, and 80 patients who accepted to participate were included in the sample. Twelve patients were excluded for various reasons (requesting to quit the study, deteriorating health, and inability to contact the patient). Block randomization was conducted according to the age, gender and, disease stage characteristics to determine the patients to be included in the intervention and control groups.
