Learning Goals: (include both)

  • Content Learning Goal

Materials, Resources & Educational Technology

Anticipatory Set

How will you set the purpose for this lesson?

Build engagement?

Build or connect to prior knowledge?

Instructional Activities

Model & Explain: What will you (the teacher) do to help build student understanding of content and language goals?

How will you provide support to students as they apply the new concept?

Assessment

Include Informal, formal and self assessments

Formal Assessment:

  1. Design an authentic (non-traditional) assessment for the lesson plan. The formal assessment must require the students to create and/or produce a
  2. product (e.g., visual representation, written product, 3-D model),
  3. process (e.g., mathematical problem with explanation of how they solved the problem), or
  4. performance (e.g., demonstration, presentation) Be sure the content of your assessment aligns with the content of your instruction and learning goals.
  5. Develop a rubric to evaluate the assessment.
  6. *Submit your learning goals with your assessment and rubric so your instructor can see the clear alignment.

It is important that the rubric contain:

  1. performance criteria
  2. rating scale
  3. indicators

You may start from scratch or find an appropriate rubric online and adapt and modify it to your needs. You may not just submit a rubric you found online.

*Tip: Use some of the language from your learning goal in your rubric.

As you work on this assignment, ask yourself:

  • What evidence (product, process, or performance) are you planning to collect or observe from each student to determine that the specific learning goal(s) described in the lesson have been met?
  • How will you use your rubric to define or identify successful evidence (product development or demonstration of process or performance) that the students have achieved the learning goal(s)?

*Note: Formal assessments (including rubrics) should be age and developmentally appropriate. Be sure the rubric is in language the students will understand.
