Develop an activity-on-node (AON) network diagram for your project. This is usually a difficult assignment for students. Be sure to include the following information for each node (If you have more than 10 nodes, compress select activities to reduce the number of nodes.):
Duration
Earliest start time
Earliest finish time
Latest start time
Latest finish time
In addition, determine:
Any slack or float for each activity
The critical path for the projecthow much time does the project require to complete
Additional information:
For the duration, use the Total Duration Hours from the Cost Spreadsheet (which have factored in the duration and interruption factors) divided by the resources assigned to the work package (if Total Duration Hours =24 hours with three resources, then the duration for the work package is 24 hours/3 resources =8 hours [1 day] time duration)
WBS activity levels should be at a level to reasonably complete an AON diagram with at least 610 activities. If there are many work packages (more than 20), do not use the work package level, unless the work packages can be combined into a manageable set of activities and/or use diagramming software, such as MS Project (not required). It is preferred that you perform this activity manually as you will have to perform this activity on the final exam.
The assignment objective is to demonstrate understanding of network diagrams, critical path analysis, and the relationships between activities.
Use the template to enter the key parameters of ES, LS, EF, LF, slack, and duration (similar to final exam problem).
Please check assignment documents before submission to make sure all documents are readable. Clearly identify the critical path (including all activities) and the duration (including a discussion of how this schedule compares to the six months target duration).
Convert hours to weeks (divide by 40) or months (divide by 160).
Convert days to weeks (divide by 5) or months (divide by 20).
Also identify all paths thru your AON diagram.
