Developing a culture that is team-based Group participation most often seems tortuous. Getting people involved can present some difficulties however, leaders must be able to create welcoming strategies that foster participation. Understanding diversity can lead to producing a cohesive group. Changing the dynamics of a group from an individualistic point of view aids in assembling and gathering vital information that will push the group toward success. In the reading, Maxwell talks about the team members needing direction and guidance. "If you lead your team, then you will need to identify a worthy and compelling vision and articulate it to your team members." People will generally follow a leader who has a vision and leads well. I dont see how anyone on a team would be against what the leader has implemented. When a culture is established anyone resistant to the vision and unwilling to integrate may need to find somewhere else to be successful with other endeavors. Every team member may not agree but after mediation and conflict resolution, there should be some sort of understanding to remain in the working environment. 1. Decide on what the culture is that you wish to create and write out your vision. Maxwell states A goal wont do the team much good without steps to accomplish it (Maxwell, pg 86) 2. State your vision to the team and set goals for the team members. Create a strategy to get everyone involved so nobody is excluded. 3. Learn and understand the diversity within the group and Incorporate exercises to discover team strengths as well as weaknesses. Do you think the writer gave some good points on how he/she would develop a culture that is team based? Why or Why not? What other suggestion would you insert to the writer?
