did I answer this question correctly: How do or should "the system" differentiate the individuals who should get the benefits of drug court and those who may simply be taking advantage? Troy Good morning The system must differentiate individuals who should benefit from drug court and those who may be taking advantage through an assessment process. The assessment process should include evaluating the individual's criminal history, substance use severity, motivation for change, and risk of reoffending. This assessment process is extremely important in determining who should benefit from drug court. I also believe that the system needs to keep a close eye on people, add more super vision and make treatment plans that suit each person's needs. One of the of cons of the program is that there is less supervision with a drug court. Offenders are not under the same reporting restrictions as someone who must report to a PO, which makes it easier for some offenders to manipulate the system. By having more supervision, they will be able to tell apart those who really need a drug court from those who might be misusing it
