Initial Post

Step 1: Look through the Spurious Correlations website (https://tylervigen.com/spurious-correlations) to find correlations that you really like or that you find humorous or surprising. Also, feel free to locate your own spurious correlation, just make sure to reference it (and provide the link) in your discussion.

** Spurious correlation (one that is only present because of a third variable) **

Step 2: Find two correlations from the website (they may be positive or negative). Try to avoid repeating topics already chosen by your peers, so scan the discussion forum before you form your initial post. Add both charts to your discussion post and indicate which is your positive correlation and which is your negative correlation. Then attempt to explain the correlation. Remember that these are called spurious correlations and may not have a serious explanation, so go for the absurd.
