Hypothesis testing is a procedure in statistics to test a hypothesis or claim on a population. Its use is far more prevalent than many realize. It's used to support or deny a suggested claim. Some examples include disproving a weight-loss drug is effective or supporting the use of a color in a store to increase the urgency to buy items.
