Garware Wall Ropes is a company that was established in 1976 and focused on making industrial ropes, textiles and nets used in fishing, agriculture and shipping. he company product range increased over the years and it manufactures fabrics that protect radar equipment to manufacturing surveillance balloons, from geosynthetics used for construction to technical textile materials for the defense sector.

One of the key problems faced by people involved in the aquaculture is there is a constant issue of fouling whenever ropes are using in the fishing , where the marine organisms settle on the surface of the net and thereby leading to occlusion of mesh openings.

This has serious impact on the fishing ropes used are there is an increase in the pressure on the cage structures and at the same time there is a reduced water exchange across nets.

Over the years, the traditional way of solving it was regular cleaning of nets at regular intervals and applying a copper solution on the nets. The result was it can avoid accumulation of fouling but had issues of higher cost of maintenance and release of copper into the nature which has serious environmental concerns.

The problem was faced by all marine related people including fishermen, shipping people, people working in the oil rigs, navy people etc. who used the ropes and nets.

It was initially observed by fishermen using the ropes for fishing both small scale as well as large scale across the globe, who faced constant fouling issues but there was none who could offer a solution including the major rope manufacturers.

This is often a daily operational occurrence but increases in the complexity which results in constant throwing away of the ropes and have resulted in in severity of increasing cost structures for the companies.
