2. Should support be provided for student athletes who can't afford an attorney and don't have an agent to help provide advice on contracts or perhaps even provide form contracts? If so, who should provide that support?Keep in mind that any support provided by a university or athletic department would open the institution/department and individuals who give that advice to legal liability if their advice doesn't work out or somehow results in a deal that goes poorly for the athlete. Currently, no athletic departments I know of are advising on these matters because of both liability reasons and issues of "institutional involvement." Also, I'd keep in mind that there are other students on campus who are non-athletes who are also facing these same issues as influencers, entrepreneurs, etc., so you might want to address whether they should be included in your suggested strategy. New guidance from the NCAA in October 2022 suggests any services like this offered on campus (legal clinics at the law school, a third-party relationship the athletic department might have, etc.) have to be offered to all students now, not just athletes.
3. What's at least one question you would have about contracts for NIL deals or how the negotiation process works?
