Question #1

Chapter 1 discusses communication principles and misconceptions. Choose one or two and review your Facebook page or a recent text exchange. Discuss how one of the principles or misconceptions applies to what you've viewed. Look at the communication competence strategies to explain how that exchange could have increased understanding, improved, or deepened the relationship. Ask yourself a prevailing question, as well: Did the exchange belong in the channel that was utilized? (For example, should the discussion have happened face-to-face or on the phone?).

Explain the linear model of communication and state clearly why the transactional model is more accurate. Provide current examples of how you have used both models of communication in the past and how they impacted your overall success.

Thus far in the class, you have learned about the relationship between critical thinking and effective communication. Why is critical thinking so important as you evaluate your effectiveness as a communicator and how does it influence your workplace success?
