Our focus this week is on community change as part of our professional practice and our role in this change.  Required Text(s):  Homan, M.S. (2016). Promoting Community Change:  Making It Happen In the Real World.  Cengage Publishing.  ISBN: 9781305850699

Community change is often applied to efforts addressing issues in the areas where we live or work.  However Eduard Barajas, Jr (2000) argues that the term community driven may be more appropriate. Although his research focuses on correctional settings, it is relevant to all aspects of the CJ system. 

In addition according to your textbook, when integrating change efforts into your job responsibilities, it is important to emphasize the philosophy behind the intent to address the issue, as well as the benefits for why you as a professional are involved. 

How are these ideals incorporated into your job responsibilities and the mission of your agency?  If they do not currently apply, how as a leader can you move your agency in this direction?  *my job is that i am a correctional case manager correct with NC DPS in corrections
