Identifying and implementing best practices is normally the third step in a quality improvement program but in the PDSA model it is performed as the second step or the "Do" step. It is a very important step. In the identify and implement stage there needs to be research to look into industry standards and case studies. This can be done by reviewing literature reviews and benchmarking against top performers. Then an evaluation of those findings takes place to assess the relevance of the findings to ensure they are applicable to the plan. The best practices are then adapted to better suit the organization and the adapted practices are implemented. After implementation there is training, resource allocation, and clear communication to make sure everyone understands the new policies and procedures Finally, the implemented polices are tracked and adjustments are made as necessary.
