discussion response with one outside source
The best example I can think of high-value healthcare that I received was at a smaller clinic called CareFirst in Tyler, Tx. I went in with severe shoulder pain and received first rate service from all of the staff, medical professionals, and administrators. Most notably they walked me through potential issues even before running any additional tests so I could decide on, or inquire further about, the appropriate next steps. This high-value cost conscious philosophy was right inline with providing optimal patient care while taking into account the overall costs (Oakes & Radomski, 2021). I was very pleased with the feeling that they were not trying push me towards more invasive exploratory efforts just to make more money. The overuse of care and feeling of wasted spending on health interventions that are perceived to be unnecessary by the patient requires physicians who are trained in high-value, cost-conscious care to counter (Mordang, et al., 2021). With situations like this it is the physicians that need to be able to communicate and educate the patient regarding their options and what the ramifications are of each option. Ensuring the patient is making the most informed decision possible will be critical to this model.
