Discussion topics will be assigned by module and open during the time the module is being covered. All original posting in discussions should be 300-400 words long, using at least one properly cited outside source in addition to the text. The content of your discussion should reflect the application of concepts learned in the module. Postings are expected to be your original thought including examples that illustrate the topic being discussed. After you have posted, you must read and comment on at least one other classmate's posting. This reply should be substantive, not limited to simple comments such as, "I agree," or "I enjoyed your post." Please see the rubric included in each discussion before posting.
Marketers are skilled at managing demand: They seek to influence its level, timing, and composition for goods, services, events, experiences, persons, places, properties, organizations, information, and ideas. They also operate in four different marketplaces: consumer, business, global, and non-profit (Kotler and Keller, p. 29). Do some research to identify a company (or companies) that managed demand and used that ability with a product or service. Was a product introduced with a lot of "hype" and then found to be scarce, or available only in limited quantities or markets? Was a product widely available in an international market, but not domestically? What was the company, the product, and the outcome of the marketing managers' efforts?
