Ahmed is from Saudi Arabia and has been in the United States for one year. He has continuously expressed little interest in learning English, preferring to communicate himself in Arabic. d. Francis, from Congo in Africa, knows Swahili and French and spent four years in a refugee camp before coming in the United States two months ago. He also had little formal education previous to arriving to the country because of the lengthy genocide caused by armed conflicts in his country between government-backed soldiers and rebel factions.
