Do you agree with my classmate discussion question below.

1. Classmate Question: I would give the person who wants to come out advice by saying look into all the pros and cons of how to deal with family and friends, acknowledge the fact that one may not accept what is said at first but will slowly process the situation. Look into groups to help build a foundations and get support even before coming out. Be prepared for many questions. There are so many benefits of coming out such as: being, ore true to oneself, unloading a burden, living for you and no one else, being a positive role model for others and never come out until you are ready! For families and friends I would say dont jump into disappointment, try to process the situation and put yourself in that persons shoes. Go to counseling together. Give the person a safe environment to deal with the situation.

2. Classmate Question: When a person decides to come out as transgender, it can be a shock to their family. While it is important for a transgender individual to receive a lot of support from their loved ones, the shock can be overwhelming for them. I believe it can be hard for old school parents to accept their child's transition into a different gender. Tradition is very important for some people and change may not be welcomed. They may have raised a child as a boy because of the gender they were born with and adjusting to that change of that child becoming a woman after all those years can be devastating to a parent. And even though I understand the shock, that same person they raised is there and changing genders does not change the character of the person.
