Federal, state, local, and tribal nation response teams worked together to restore the critical infrastructures that were damaged. Federal agencies such as the U.S. Coast Guard, Department of Transportation, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Department of Health and Human Services, Housing and Urban Development, and Department of Defense cooperated with FEMA to assist those affected by Sandy. If a similar disaster were to happen these governmental agencies along with the affected state and FEMA would assist in responding to and restoring the critical infrastructures affected by the disaster (FEMA, 2017).

To have a consistent nationwide approach for Federal, Sates, local governments to work together, including the private sector. For example, when an earthquake occurs, the States, local areas, counties must follow (NIMS) plans and strategies and share information with the system to coordinate and respond effectively to the situation or disasters.
