Classmate 1 Question:

Physical surveillance. This methods entails the investigator following criminals to bust them. He follows them wherever they go but he must not be seen by the criminals so that he is able to gather all the evidence needed against them. The surveillance is done over sometime because it is required for the criminal to be followed to the different areas that he goes. An example of physical surveillance is when the DEA follows a drug dealer to be able to know where he gets his drugs from

Audio surveillance is another type. In this one the investigator uses audio equipment like bugs and microphones to gather the needed information. Bugs can be fitted in a room where the investigator knows a criminal will be in so that he is able to hear everything that is being said. Another way is that someone maybe wired and then asked to go meet up with whoever is being investigated against and in this situation the investigator has access to the microphone and he is able to hear everything the two are discussing.

Video surveillance. This can be from CCTV or by the investigator videotaping the criminal whilst following him. CCTV cameras have been of great help to investigators because they are situated in different parts of cities and towns making it very easy to record almost all the things happening around. This way the investigator would be in a position to gather evidence from different CCTV cameras.

Classmate 2 Question:

An undercover security investigator may use an electronic monitoring method to figure out information. This goes through the court order because this method can be a little invasive to someone's privacy. these methods can be from wiretapping to electronic access to someone's emails or their phone records. This method is very deep searching and some stuff the user erased can be resurfaced. This method is very good in doing deep searches in order to figure out any information that is being hidden or even future crimes.

The second method is done by a person in person. The undercover will stake out a place or someone's place in order to track a person's move. This can also be done by two investigators as this helps for a better result as they can switch positions on who watches the perp and they can collectively gather information without missing anything because they are tired and doing it alone. This method is called fixed surveillance.

The last method I think the undercover security investigator would use is being an in-person undercover. This means they'll go undercover in order to receive information. This can be dangerous at times because people will test you to see if you give off police signs. Though this method is also really great for when it comes to gathering information firsthand. You are able to see what crimes are being done and can do a more accurate investigation.
