Small project management involves five key steps

1. Project approval: To be successful, all projects need to be sponsored and supported to a greater or lesser extent. The project is owned by the sponsor and must be approved. Without a formal project permit, the chances of failure increase. One of the biggest contributors to a project's success is executive management support. Client engagement, experienced project managers, specific business objectives, and scope follow the characteristics of successful projects. Project management support is documented through project rules.
2. Definition of scope: The scope of the "statement" shall specify the following: -Business issues and impact -Objectives (what the project should do for the business); and FIG -Supplyable items (scope and exclusion qualities). The sponsor shall also sign and comply with this document. While sponsors are responsible for the scope and decision-making of the project, project managers are responsible for planning and reporting against the plan.
3. Planning and Estimation: Before starting a project, estimate how long it will take to achieve the project objectives. For small projects, take each item to be delivered and identify and disassemble the work required to produce them. The list of results is called a job breakdown structure (WBS), which helps you plan the necessary work to meet the project's objectives.
4. Status Report / Performance: For larger projects, 90% of the project manager is spent on communication. For control engineering projects, communication time is much shorter. Regular communication with project status is essential, regardless of project size. I

5. Success - Project Closing: This step is important because it provides the last chance to celebrate, to be happy with success, to lift the team's spirits, and to "learn" from the project team.
