Do you agree with this analysis why or why not ?

I think that people tend to be poor because of both internel and external forces. I think that certain groups of people such as the black and hispanic community are not given the same opportunities like the white community. I think they do not get as much funding for schools or resources so therefore the education is lacking and setting them up to fail. I think internally people who are poor usually come from families who have always been poor. I think that it can be a generational thing and until someone decided to break the cycle it will continue. I think some mind sets of people are that if welfare was good enough for their parents and their grandparents, then it is good enough for them as well. I think the stand I take is that we are the cause of structural racism, but we are also the solution to it. Nothing will change unless we stick together. I have noticed that many people around me, have different views on this. Some turn a blind eye and pretend it does not exist, while others are fighting constanctly to be treated equally. I think unless you are being affected by something, then most people do not care to try to fight it. It is only when it affects you, that people care. I think most of the world is selfish and most people only care about themselves. This sadly, does not change with racism in the world. I also think that only people who have experienced racism can truly understand it, and understand just how detremental it can be. I read an article about this black man who had been a plumber since he was he was a kid. He would help his father constantly, who was also a plumber. He worked professional as a plumber for 20 years. All those years were spent at the same company. A high position became availble and he wanted to apply for it because he was a shoe in for it. He did not get the position, and instead a 25 year old white man who had only been with the company for 6 months got it. He waited a while and applied to two other similar positions within in this company and again was turned down for those as well, for white men who had only been with the company a short amount of time. Is he to believe that this was anything more than blatant racism? There was no other reason for him to be turned away with his experince and how long he had been at the company. It has been this way in the world for quite some time now, and it really needs to change.
