A couple quick ways they decided to change their lives is through zero electricity, attempting to produce no trash and instead composting all organic waste, limiting their diet to a couple-hundred-mile radius to minimize the cost of food transportation, and avoiding major transportation like cars altogether while relying on bikes and walking instead. These changes proved very difficult for the couple as they also had a child. It seemed a very big change for Colin's wife Michelle was not having any coffee. No Impact Man shows the highlights of difficulty it is to live sustainably thru themselves and trying to eliminate their economic footprint. The documentary challenges the viewers to view their lives and consider their own environmental impact while trying to inspire the viewer to leave a lesser economic impact in the world. The more viewers that would leave this lesser economic impact would overall contribute to a more sustainable world for everyone long term
