does my answer tot he student stay on topic and sound good: Jenna Pierson Hello Class, A recent decision that went in effect last year was that the Supreme Court made Illinois the first state to implement a pretrial system that does not require payment to be released from jail. In smaller counties like the one I am from this has made a huge impact in many ways in our community. One reason being that if you commit a crime within reason, you do not even get arrested anymore you are just issued a notice to appear on scene. If you commit a crime you go to jail and go to court, say the next morning, or Monday if it was the weekend, and are released from there. They claim this is to make communities a safer place. When someone commits a more harmful crime gets arrested and only spends one night in jail until heading to the court the next day where they will get released how is this making a community safer? Next thing it does is that money received from cash bail helps pay for things at the jail, employees, paperwork whatever funds it takes to run the county jail. Now that there is no cash bail the county is receiving a huge loss in funds but are expected to keep doing their job. I hope in the future the Supreme Courts make some better decisions than this one that they made, because this is hurting a lot of counties in Illinois at the moment.
