It is the shared beliefs, customs, and practices, that reflects how these elements contribute to an individual's self-conception and sense of well-being. Racial identity, is the recognition of oneself as belonging to a specific racial group, often described by physical traits such as skin color. It reflects how an individual sees themselves belonging to a specific racial group which can be defined by inherited traits. It is hard for me to expand on this because this is a difficult subject for me to understand. America is a society of people from diverse backgrounds. The easiest way for me to understand the difference is to think of the Jewish heritage. A person can have Jewish heritage but not practice Judism as a religion.
