Scenario:
You are the office manager for an accounting organization and manage 7 employees. For the most part, all of your employees get along and follow the rules and policies. Pam has been an employee for 4 years and is occasionally about 15-20 minutes late to work and often takes longer lunch breaks than are scheduled. Marcus has been an employee for 1 year and always comes to work on time and takes his scheduled breaks and is respectful of company time. Marcus has noticed that Pam seems to come and go and is wondering if he can start to the do the same. Hes even commented to Pam nice to finally grace us with your presence this morning, Pam. And Pam quickly responds with, Well, when you have been here as long as I have, you can come and go as you please too! Other employees are starting to notice the tiff between the two coworkers and are also starting to talk among each other. Some employees have even brought it up to you in passing by saying I wish I could take an extra 15 minutes for my lunch break like Pam does!
The organization has a policy that if employees are more than 15 minutes late to work, they must call their manager (you) and let him or her know. Pam is not adhering to this policy.
