unused electricity beep odors heat Textual Description: To get the microwave ready to cook, the person places the raw food into the microwave and enters the settings: desired cooking time and power level (in no particular order). After entering the settings, the person pushes the start button causing the magnetron to generate microwaves from the electricity supplying the microwave and also causes the timer to start counting down. The grating on the door prevents the microwaves from exiting the unit. The microwaves vibrate the food which causes the food to get hot. When the timer expires, the microwave beeps to let the person know the cooking is finished. The person then removes the cooked food and can smell the odors from the cooked food. However, a defective magnetron prevents the microwave from producing the microwaves and the person's dinner is ruined as a result.
