Chapter 6 The only case assigned to read: Mathias v. Accor Economy Lodging, Inc. 347 F.3d 672 (7th Cir 2003)

Chapter 7 The only case assigned to read: Stahlecker v. Ford Motor Co., 667 NW 2d 244 (Neb 2003)

Chapter 35 Read the chapter, but you may skip the cases:

a. What is the main "issue" and applicable "law" in the Mathias case (ch 6)? (This case summary cites several laws - precedent - you may select only one law which the court applies to the facts to resolve the issue. Be sure to cite the "law" which is relevant to the issue that you select.)

b. What is the main "issue" and applicable "law in the Stahlecker case (ch 7)?

2. (5 points):

a. Briefly list the duties and rights of the agent and the principal, drawing from your reading in chapter 35.

b. Give a brief example of apparent, actual and implied authority: you may use examples from the text, or create your own example (no more than 1 paragraph will suffice). (See, chapters 35, 36 and/or 37.) You may use a hypothetical, or simply explain the differences.

3. (5 points):

a. Give an example when a police officer may conduct a warrant-less search of a person without violating the U.S. Constitution. (See, ch 5.) (No more than a few sentences.)

b. What are the underlying facts in U.S. v. Jones? What is the main issue in this case? What law is
