During the initial project meeting with the client, they have shared their concerns about rising

energy costs and they want to explore possibility of waste heat recovery from the condenser of

the refrigeration system. This was followed by study of existing refrigeration system, and it has

been established that it is very old with very poor performance and cannot be modified. Hence,

it is recommended to replace it with a new more efficient refrigeration system with liquid cooled

condenser. This type of condenser will allow heat recovery for pre$-$heating the cold water before

it is supplied to gas fired water heater and steam generator.

Explain the proposed system modifications with help of a process flow diagram of the modified

refrigeration and waste heat recovery system showing each component and the connections

including cold storage, pasteurization and other fruit processing facility $($use figure $1$ as the

baseline to prepare your modified PFD$).$ Provide brief discussion about industrial waste heat

recovery technologies with advantages and disadvantages based on the published literature.
