During the process of acquiring data from various types of sensors, some noise gets added to the data. The source of noise may be from the background, from the system's inherent characteristics or defect etc. Therefore, to get a cleaner data, often the noisy data is passed thorough an appropriate filter. In this project the students will work on removing noise from audio signals. The students are required to analyze the noisy audio signals to identify the noise characteristics and based on that analysis result, they have to design appropriate filter to recover the noise free version of the audio signal. The filter must be designed considering lower implementation cost and faster response. You need to consider implementation structure which uses fixed precision algorithm. The report must contain the following: Design objective and discussion on the types of data and noise considered in the project. Choice of an appropriate filter (among lowpass, highpass, bandpass and bandstop) with suitable filter parameters along with proper justification. • Performance evaluation of the designed filter. (Include necessary plots, calculations, observations etc) Suggestion of any design change for improving the performance, if any. Conclusion The submitted report must be comprehensive and complete. It must be written in such a way that a fellow engineer, who knows the theory but has not done any design work, should be able to understand and learn the design process by reading your report. (As an engineer working for a company, you, along with your colleagues, might be involved in designing products, constructing them, and writing reports on them. We are trying to emulate that process here.) The rubric for the report evaluation has been provided overleaf.
