Each group will create a Values-Based Code of Ethics, which ...addresses a company's core value system...[and often will] outline standards of responsible conduct as they relate to the larger public good and the environment.(Hayes & Drury, 2021). You can use the posted examples of Codes of Conduct such as Caterpillar, Levi Strauss & Co, or Mattel found in this module. As you can see it is an extensive document and the reason for providing the amount of time necessary to complete this task.
For the purposes of this assignment each group will create a fictitious company to create the code of ethics for or they can opt to use an existing business that does not have a values based code of ethics: note - if creating a company all teams need to do is select an industry and choose a name for the company (*additional instructions related to this are in the requirements section) you are not creating a business plan. Research the industry to understand the main players, their competitive advantages and why your company wants to be in this industry. The restaurant industry is NOT to be used for this assignment!
Its important to remember that: A code of ethics sets out an organization's ethical guidelines and best practices to follow for honesty, integrity, and professionalism.(Hayes & Drury, 2021).
Keeping this in mind, each group will create a Values-Based Code of Ethics based on these principles that are expanded upon by Betterteam (2021): Remember, when creating the Values-Based Code of Ethics the following "Five Ethical Codes", outlined by Betterteam (2021) need to be included: ...Integrity, Objectivity, Professional Competence, Confidentiality and Professional behaviour(Betterteam,2021); as they relate to pertinent concepts from the following chapters:
Chapter 8 Managerial & Organizational Ethics
Chapter 10 Ethical Issues in the Global Arena
Chapter 13- Consumer Stakeholders: Information Issues
Chapter 14- Consumer Stakeholders: Product and Service Issues
Chapter 15 Sustainability and the Natural Environment
Chapter 17 Employee Stakeholders and Workplace Issues
Chapter 18 Employee Stakeholders: Privacy Safety and Health
