Each student is required to type a paper, the purpose of which is to further facilitate the learning process. The paper will be 4 to 6 pages in length. For this assignment, you should select a Fortune 500 company or a small business you are familiar with either as an employee or through personal relationships with the owner. Included in this analysis are the following: 1. An overview of the company its products, ownership (public or private company), including its size (i.e. number of employees, number of locations, etc...). 2. Describe the competitors and their capabilities. The competitor's capabilities can be evaluated according to its strengths and weaknesses. 3. Conduct a PESTEL analysis. This is an analysis of the external macro environments that affect all firms is vital in the strategic management process. P.E.S.T.E.L is short for the Political, Economic, Social, Technological, Environmental, and Legal features of the external macro-environment. 4. Conduct a SWOT analysis of the selected organization. In the SWOT analysis, you should examine the internal and external environment. The internal analysis of the organization should include an assessment of the internal environment's potential strengths and weaknesses. In looking at the external analysis of the organization you should look at opportunities the organization could not be missed. Opportunities can take place when change occurs in the external environment.
