Each student shall find a recent (within one year) article concerning Accountants/CPAs and data analytics; such topics as the role Accountants have in conducting audits using data analytics, new technology available for conducting data audits, guidelines to be used for conducting audits, the importance of internal controls for firms using enterprise management systems, etc. Students shall discuss the contents of the article, include personal input regarding the article content, and any concepts that apply to an industry of student interest. For example: the article is a discussion of implementing new internal controls for the electronic processing of A/R collections. Discuss the article contents, comment on the pros/cons of the new internal controls, then discuss the impact on the healthcare industry (cost of implementation).
