ECP 2. Spline you name
Write your name initial in cursive on graph paper (you'll need to write it rather large). Select as
many points as you wish in the letter that best "define" the letter (letters with extra strokes, t, i, j
and x, require extra care). Write down, in order, the x and y coordinates of each of the points.
Created a user-defined, generalized cubic-spline interpolation function to reconstruct your name
from the measured coordinates. The generalized function must:
Handle any number of data points
Apply the cubic-spline interpolation
Have the interface: [y_target, C]= MyCubicSpline (x, y, x_target)
where:
x : x coordinate for all points
y : y coordinate for all points
x target: x coordinate for a specific coordinate between x minimum and x
maximum
y_target. y corresponding to x_target calculated using the appropriate polynomial
from the cubic-spline interpolation
C: array of all the coefficients of the interpolating polynomials.
Create a plot of the reconstruction.
Find the interpolating cubic spline polynomials
Evaluate the polynomials for other points
Plot the resulting (x,y curve
If you prefer using a different letter, please feel free to do so.
