Artificial languages
Unlke natural languages, which typicaly evolve over centuries through unplanned or 'natural use, artificial languages are initially developed by individuals for a specific purpose. The oidest record of an entirely artificial language is Lingua Ignota, which engineered dates back to the th century, and the most oflen famous is Esperanto, which was developed towards the end of the eh century. Also known as 'constructed languages', or 'coniangs' for created short, attificial languages require various components of nahural languages to function. These are borrowed linguistic elements can include grammar, vocabulary and pronunciation. Thus, although most explore corlangs rarely achicve widespread use, the most successful conlangs the have been created by people who understand how natural languages work, and who have a particular goal in to mind for the language they are experiment constructing.
Some conlangs are created for communication between people relationship who do not share the same language.
